activity of the Centre

The State Pharmacological Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (MHU) is assignee of the Pharmacological Committee of the MHU, founded in 1992.

Main objective of the Centre is to protect Ukraine’s pharmaceutical market against unsafe and low-grade products.

Main tasks of the Center are as follows:

	expert evaluation of medicinal products in order to recommend them for the state registration (re-registration);
	specialised assessment of materials pertinent to pre-clinical studies of medicinal products to recommend them for clinical trials;
	provision for and control of clinical trials;
	assuring the compliance with principles of the biological and medical ethics through scientific investigations within its competence;
	control over adverse reactions of medicinal products;
	expert evaluation of medicines advertising;
	public information on quality and safety of medicinal products.

The Center has a strong skilled staff and material and technical basis as well as developed INTERNET network which allows to work and implement its projects on the modern level. The Center’s staff includes:

	4 Members of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (AMS Ukraine);
	10 Corresponding Members of the NAS and the AMS Ukraine;
	65 Professors;
	19 Doctors of Sciences;
	63 Candidates of Science.

The Center has established relations with competent authorities of Ukraine, the CIS, Europe and USA. The Center’s employees take part in the European programs and projects related to pharmacology.
